Recently, while I was browsing my Facebook account, I came across this funny but true dental related picture of the famous villain in the movie Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort.
I do not own this image, I just want to share the fun and benefit of consulting your dentist to help you fix dental related problems. This from the page of Dr. Howard Farran, DDS, MBA. Posted on September 16, 2015. Since I live across the oceans from Dr. Howard, I am having my dental check up at a dental clinic in Quezon City.
Presenting the picture of him before seeing a dentist and the result of cosmetic dentistry on him. Haha
All credits are to the owner of this photo. This is used for illustrative purpose of how powerful a dentist compared to a wizard! Haha. To know more about this magic power of our dentist, read about cosmetic dentistry.
For all the Harry Potter fans out there, I know that you are laughing so hard right now! The artist of this very funny photo did a great job. Thumbs Up!
Enough of the fun, let’s go to the serious part, or I will use the magic spell that everyone fears (the Avada Kedavra)!
Dental or Oral Care is one of the most neglected hygiene by most of us. According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), 92% of adults from age 20 to 64 had dental caries in their permanent teeth. Aside from that, 26% of the same age range have untreated decay. See that teeth condition of Voldemort on the left? That’s what your teeth would look like if you will neglect your oral care habits.
To prevent that worst case teeth condition, even Voldemort had suffered from that, we have to take care of our teeth. There are very simple ways in which we can take care of our oral health. There is a reminder for us written in this post “Your Smile is what you eat”. The food we intake affects our teeth and if we are not aware of that, the possibility to suffer from those dental problems is high.
Keeping our teeth healthy is not that easy, especially when you have habits that affect your teeth. Just peak on that post to enlighten your mind about those things that might not knowingly do but can damage your pearly whites. Of the things listed there, I am guilty with almost all of them.
If you will continue to take is matter lightly, you might want to read the bad effects of not brushing your teeth. You will be surprised by what will you find there.
So if you don’t want to have that teeth of Voldemort, you better start practicing good oral hygiene.
